Catherine McQueen began DJ ing after singing on several dance tracks including Time After Time, which reached no. 15 in the US Billboard Charts. Starting out on the LA club scene at clubs Vice in Hollywood and Tatou in Downtown LA she soon built up a reputation as a competent DJ playing a mix of house and hip hop. This led to residencies at the clubs Apple and Green Door and bookings at various popular spots including Geisha House, Jane’s House and MI5 in LA. She was soon touring the US playing as far afield as Atlanta and Reno, Nevada.
She has since worked all over the world including DJ ing at events, festivals and clubs in Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpar, India and London.
Originally from Edinburgh in Scotland Catherine McQueen began modeling at the age of 16 after being chosen as a finalist for the Elite Model Look Competition. Although keen to head straight down to London and pursue her new career of choice her parents thankfully made her stay on to complete her A levels. Receiving better that expected results she was offered a place to read Law and Business at City University. Thus followed a frantic 3 years juggling modeling and studies. On graduating with a 2.1 she was offered a 2 month contract to model in Tokyo. She accepted thinking she would take one year out to model full time before settling back into the legal profession. However 2 months in Tokyo led to 2 years in Asia followed by another couple of years in Milan, London and New York with campaigns for Christian Dior and wonder bra, shoots for Marie Claire, Elle, FHM, Maxim, Tatler, GQ and Harpers and Queen to name a few.
She managed to make the move from model to presenter after being chosen to work on a popular TV show called the Big Breakfast. The producers decided that they would use the same models every week and make them part of the show allowing them to “speak”. With this experience and her legal qualifications Catherine was then offered a job as a presenter on a legal and business programme on Sky. This led to countless other TV presenting jobs including MTV, ESPN, Sky Vegas, Fashion TV and Al Jazeera Sport whom she has also produced shows for. As well as presenting shows Catherine has also appeared in a number of reality shows including Celebrity Fear Factor, which she won, thus securing a GBP10,000 payout for Cancer Research UK.
She hosted LA Fashion Week and the UFC in Vegas for Spike and THQ. You can watch her presenting skills on her who reel http://www.youtube.com/catherinemcqueentv
Catherine had a small role in the James Bond film Die Another Day and has had acting roles in The Bill and Judge John Deed.
Catherine has also sung on numerous dance tracks including Time After Time with Koishii and Hush which reached no 15 in the US Billboard Charts. It was this that led her to pursue her musical interests further in the form of DJ ing. Starting out in Los Angeles, where she had originally gone to host a TV show, she quickly learned the ropes in the Hollywood clubs, beginning with playing an early set at Tatou in Downtown LA. With the help of hours and hours of practice she soon secured a residency at the popular West Hollywood club, Apple, and was then also playing at several of the other clubs around the city including Green Door, Jane’s House and MI5.
After a year of DJ ing on the Hollywood club scene playing a mixture of house and hip hop she was soon touring the US playing as far afield as Reno, Philadelphia, Vegas and Atlantic City. This led to a tour of Asia where she played Stereo lab in Singapore, Dragon I in Hong Kong and the world famous Sunburn festival in Goa. She has also Dj ed at the Full Moon Party on the beach in Bintan, Indonesia, played Pattaya International Fashion week in Thailand and played a full tour of India spinning at Poison and The Blue Frog in Mumbai, Tito’s in Goa, Blend in Chennai and Bottles and Chimney in Hyderabad.
It was only a matter of time before she was playing back in her native UK securing a residency a Jalouse, voted the top London Club for 2010 and also spinning regularly at Luxx and Chinawhite. More recently she has just returned from playing gigs in India at Venom, Kolkata and Club Aer, Mumbai Over Christmas / New Year 2010.
Combining her TV and DJ ing experiences she is currently working on a reality TV show focused on female DJ’s, which she has written and is producing.
